For metal roofing installation
Here’s our checklist that our company uses to make sure you get the best service. Prior the installation, the installation engineer does the following:
- Surveys the property itself to triple check for the condition of the property including eaves, siding, trough, bushes, driveway, and anything else attached or near your property.
- In full detail the engineer will explain each step of the procedures, materials, and more.
- We will make sure the tiles they have are the exact ones that you’ve chosen for your property.
Metal Roofing Installation Procedure
We remove all the foreign objects such as other building materials, branches, animal wastes, what have you and make the roof clean as a whistle. In addition, we install starting from the edge of the ledge, moving upward to the ridge to an overlap of 4 inches. Next the water barrier is extended towards 1 ½ on the vent pipes and four to six inches on the chimneys and then seal it against the vertical surface.
Strapping and Ventilation
To prevent condensation, we insulate the attic’s spaces. We install the right amount of moisture barriers beneath the strapping thus providing optimum ventilation.
When we engineer and apply our strapping, we make sure that the air is able to circulate from the roof ledge to the ridge of the roof. This cools the air that is warm inside the structure thus minimizing or ridding any chance of condensation.
The strapping is manufactured, engineered, and constructed of 2″x2″ or 2″x3″ planks. A series of 1″x3″ cross brace rails are then applied first in right angles to the roof’s ledge and measuring 3 1/2″ from the ledge of the roof continuing on up to the ridge. The distance between the trusses, the principal trusses that is, are used so that the rails equal that distance between the rails. Every 16 to 24″ is where the trusses are laid down.
The next thing is to put the first plank down and is placed by nailing 3 ½ inches from the eave and parallel to the ledge. Twelve inches is the distance between the first and second plank. The following planks are then placed at 13 ¾ inches between the centres or between the top edges. Then the strapping is of 2″x2″ or 2″x3″ planks. The first plank generally should be around ¼ to ½ inches thicker than the rest of the planks.
