Roof system

Metal shingles and steel tiles

Metal shingles are a modular profile — a metal roof that reads as shingle or tile from the street. Below is the system we install: what it is made of, the colours it comes in, and the slope below which it is the wrong material for a roof.

The profile is what you see. It is not the specification.

The sheet is shaped to give the impression of a classic tile.

A modular profile is made of repeating panels, shaped so the roof reads as separate tiles or shingles from the ground rather than as sheet. Standing seam does the opposite: long panels and a vertical line. Which one suits a house is a question about the house — its massing, its trim, the brick or the siding it sits above. Review standing seam.

A profile does not tell you what the panel is made of, how thick the sheet is, what the coating is, or how the panel is fixed to the roof. Two roofs with the same profile can be two different products. Those are the questions the next section answers.

The profile is half of it. How the roof is detailed and installed is the other half, and it is set out step by step. See the inspection path.

The system we install

A colour-coated corrugated metal tile in a 0.5 mm sheet with a matte polyester polymer coating — a classic tile profile, roll-formed rather than stamped. Panels are sized to the roof, and the component parts are made in the same thickness, coating and colour as the sheets.

Roll forming and stamping are two ways of putting a shape into a flat sheet. A press stamps the shape in one strike, and the tool sets the size of the piece. Roll forming runs the sheet through a line of rollers that bend the profile into it in stages, so the profile is continuous along the sheet and the length is set by how much sheet is run through the line, not by the size of a tool.

Factory-direct European materials

Connect the selected system to the team installing it.

Direct distributor and installer. Material sourcing and the roof-specific installation scope stay with FALX Metal Roofing.

For manufacturer-direct systems covered by FALX Metal Roofing, the estimate identifies the selected product, the material source and the installation scope for the actual roof.

ArcelorMittal steel from Germany and Belgium. Up to 50-year manufacturer warranty on qualifying systems; the selected product and coverage belong in the quote.

Direct sourcing applies only to the manufacturers, product lines and commercial terms identified in the approved estimate. FALX Metal Roofing does not claim to manufacture the roofing products or guarantee the lowest market price.

Six colours, and how to check one

Choose the colour with the house, exterior materials and daylight in view.

Graphite BlackRAL 9005
TerracottaRAL 8004
Slate GreyRAL 7024
Colonial RedRAL 3011
Chocolate BrownRAL 8017
Mocha BrownRAL 8019

Use the RAL reference to start the discussion, then confirm current product availability and inspect a physical sample.

A screen is not a colour reference. Two monitors will not render the same photograph the same way, and neither will a photograph and a roof in daylight. Check the code, and look at a physical sample before you choose.

Check the slope first

A metal tile roof needs a slope greater than 14 degrees. Below that it is the wrong material for the roof.

You do not have to measure it yourself. Slope is one of the first things checked on site, and if the roof is under the limit we will say so rather than quote for it.

Bring the roof, not just the address.

Share your name, phone number and property address, and FALX Metal Roofing will prepare the next step.
